I am a donor because...

Matt is a 30 gallon donor who thinks of his daughter every time he rolls up his sleeve. Matt's daughter Maggie passed away more than three years ago at the age of eight. She had been in and out of the hospital since birth. Maggie suffered from a congenital intestinal disease and eventually had a multi-visceral transplant to replace her stomach pancreas spleen and intestines. She eventually needed a bone marrow transplant and her brother Max was a perfect match.

To prepare her body for the transplant Maggie underwent chemotherapy and required massive doses of blood and platelets to counteract the effect on her body. Unfortunately Maggie contracted a virus shortly after the bone marrow transplant and passed away. Even though Matt wishes his daughter was still alive he is grateful for the time he spent with her and he knows he's helping someone else's family every time he gives blood.
