I donate blood because a donor saved my son's life...
When my son Adam was born Oct. 31, 2000 he was born he had a very low platelet count and needed transfusions in order to sustain life. His platelets were low due to being infected with CMV at birth.
At his first birthday party his father and I organized a family blood drive and we managed to get near a gallon of blood donated in honor of our son. We continue to donate whole blood very often. Between the both of us we have given nearly 9 gallons of blood~!
He is now a healthy, happy boy (age 11) who loves life and is willing to do anything to help other people.
This is the 2nd year our son has organized a Remote Control Car & truck show in Tolono IL. He sells concessions and other various items from flags to programs. Last year he managed to donate $148 to the Community Blood Services of IL.
This year (july 14th) he is planning his second RC show to donate even more! & He has arranged for our bloodmobile to come accept donations. He is expecting a much bigger turn out this year and is already thinking about next year's RC Fest~!
